Decorative Stitch Themes …linework, little motifs, stitch-mates & libraries
for BERNINA B 590, B 790 PRO & B 990 machine owners
Follow steps building and saving intriguing linework themes, one seasonal and one abstract. Steps, plus guidelines, aid in creating a third theme all your own. Test stitch all. How long are various repeats? Try two easy methods to end up your desired length. Next, we super-size the decorative stitch impact with the help of a few chalk lines. Afterward, playfully create little motifs with repeats. Diagrams make it easy. Your choice …a whimsical butterfly, imaginary flower, raindrops and/or grasses. All are very forgiving. The wind could be blowing, right? A little organizer bag is easily sewn and showcases linework and mini motifs. Then we look at and consider decorative stitch libraries. Paula demos how she most often uses using her library. Pointing out advantages unique to different methods, find out where to access free online resources for your library. It’s so nice to really see, touch and know what’s at your fingertips on BERNINA. Briefly share favorite stitch-out results on webcam for all to enjoy!

Get your Sideways Motion Mojo on ...and quilt with these too
for BERNINA B 790 PRO & B 990 machine owners
Achieve fantastic BERNINA stitch quality, plus creativity, using sideways motion and editing. You’ll have guided practice for both continuous line and closed motifs. Balance (aka optimizing) removes unwanted separations and overlaps. Follow steps, test sew and we’ll fine tune settings for particular materials and save. You’ll get the hang of adjusting balance, optimizing for different materials. Other editing options make it fun. From the edited/saved stitches decorate: a ribbon, a single cloth layer and quilt something too. It’s really quite pretty quilted. With your stitched pincushion ingredients, follow simple assembly steps. If you finish early, freely explore any alternate stitch pattern(s) you’re attracted to. We’ll begin to brainstorm project ideas especially ideal for sideways motion stitching. Paula shows special effect samples for inspiration. Maybe abracadabra the pincushion idea into a pillow? Share your pincushions on webcam and away we go~~~

Wow to the JUMBO JUMBO ...useful in so many ways
for BERNINA B 990 machine owners
Whether you seek bold stitch drama or delicate details, welcome to a hands-on tour of B 990 Jumbo. On the sewing side, jumbo is layered with other edits for beautiful effects. Ideal thread weight varies, not by percentage, but in a surprising way. Create and test-stitch combi-jumbo too. Save favorites in a fresh folder. On a whim, open one in embroidery. A few onscreen clicks and embroider half your zipper bag. A big bold element pairs with something quite tiny, options provided, for the remainder. Intermission! In BERNINA Designer Software, Paula shows additional methods to creatively refine jumbo stitches. Assemble a lined zipper bag using a great little technique to reduce zipper bulk. Like doodling with notes? An A6 clipboard, 4” x 6” blank paper pad, and mechanical pencil with eraser fits. Maybe dream up some project ideas. Paula’s inspiration samples feature thread color and weight variations to enhance jumbo effects. It’s easy and artsy. Smile, hold your class project up to the webcam for us all to enJOY~~~

A Bird's Eye View ...sewing & embroidery improv with camera
for BERNINA B 990 machine owners
Structure and whimsy unite! Take the essential steps to most effectively and broadly use your BERNINA 990 camera. You’ll spend most of the class having camera fun with stitch patterns in sewing mode. A quick embroidery module stitch-out of an outline shape provides the start. Out-of-the-hoop decorative stitch "coloring" ensues. Learn to gauge start points, practice selecting and editing stitch patterns to best fit various shapes. Change thread color whenever you feel like it. This is a very relaxing process. Results entertain, sometimes surprise and are naturally appealing. And as you learn, make an oopsie work. There are tips for this! We'll also take a look at how the scanner can save the day, expanding your creativity. At end of class, share a glimpse of your stitching on webcam to celebrate everyone's Bird's Eye View.
